Description

Kortex® + VR: The Stress Detox Experience™

Kortex® is the first brain stimulation peripheral for VR headsets. Validated in multiple published studies, the technology manages stress and sleep by stimulating the production of serotonin, lowering cortisol and modulating brain activity.

Manufactured by Fisher Wallace Laboratories, Kortex® clones the neurostimulation technology of the Fisher Wallace Stimulator®, a prescription medical device that has been cleared by the FDA and approved in Europe. Since 2009, more than 7,000 healthcare providers have prescribed the the Fisher Wallace Stimulator® to over 30,000 patients.

Kortex® uses the same circuit board and delivers the same stimulation output as the Fisher Wallace Stimulator® - but with a more limited intended use. Available without a prescription, Kortex® is regulated as a general wellness device by the FCC and is strictly intended to manage stress and sleep.

Fisher Wallace Laboratories partnered with ustwo Games to co-market Land’s End: A VR Adventure with Kortex® and the combination will be studied in an upcoming clinical trial. Additional content recommendations include Old Friend and Chocolate by VR auteur Tyler Hurd, the healthcare content of AppliedVR, Relax VR, and Orbital Vanitas from The New York Times VR. Kortex® customers will receive content recommendations on a monthly basis. Kortex® attaches to most VR headsets, including the Samsung Gear VR, Google Daydream View, ZEISS VR ONE Plus, VIVE and Oculus headsets. Kortex® is not compatible with the Sony PlayStation VR headset.

Quotes from Co-Founder Kelly Roman

“Most of our pre-order customers never experienced VR before buying Kortex - I expect that trend to continue because the healthcare value of Kortex broadens the audience beyond experienced gamers.”

“Kortex is the first neurostimulation device for the wellness market that may be accurately described as ‘prescription strength’ because it clones the technology of the Fisher Wallace Stimulator - a powerful differentiator.”

About Land’s End

Land's End is a VR adventure from the creators of Monument Valley. Set against spectacular landscapes, the player is tasked with awakening an ancient civilization using the powers of their mind. Land’s End combines Ustwo Games’ award-winning approach to interactive storytelling with Samsung Gear VR, creating an incredible virtual reality experience that you can take anywhere. Land’s End began as an investigation into new techniques for interaction and navigation in VR. Co-designers Peter Pashley and Ken Wong were especially interested in the advantages of mobile, wires-free VR, and in designing game controls based only on head-tracking. After several weeks of prototyping and testing, the team eventually settled on the gaze-based mechanic that became the basis for Land’s End. To expand the project to a full VR experience, the team drew on their strengths in creating beautiful environments and zen-like puzzles. The project was heavily inspired by beautiful yet isolated regions from around the world, including the Hebrides, Iceland and Saudi Arabia. Further inspiration came from neolithic sites and artifacts, including Stonehenge. Exploring a world filled with these spectacular landscapes, the player is tasked with awakening an ancient civilization using the power of their mind.
